Revenge by MDB Productions
Narrative
This opening is very short compared to the others I've seen however is very effective. During this opening we witness a young girl walking to meet her friend at the park, and on the way gets followed by someone. We see that she then gets attacked by this person and she falls to the ground. We then see her talking over the top of the scenes and seems like she's being asked question's by a police officer.
Sound
Over voice is used throughout this opening to tell us the story and to introduced what is going on. However it is still rather confusing for the audience but we still are helped by this over voice. Dramatic Music is also played during this opening, but towards the end. This creates tension and suspense because we don't know what could be happening next.
Camerawork
We see a Mid shot being used alot during this opening, as we see the person attacking her behind and seems to be really close to her. This adds tension because we see him, there before she does.
We then see the camera being handheld and a POV shot taking place during her fall. This is done to make us feel more apart of the action and as if we were the one getting pushed over this also is to show us what she is seeing at the point.
Editing
We witness a blur effect being used over the top of a few scenes. This creates mystery and also we can't see whats going on very well. This could also mean that it happened in the past therefore this is why the use of this.
Slow motion is a massive part of this opening as no fast pace is really used. The use of slow motion on the knife shows that this is a important feature for later on.
Mise En Scene
The costume's used in this are very effective because we see the antagonist wearing black which is a key convention for a thriller film. However we see the girl wearing a white top which could mean innocent. By using these colours we can tell who's the protagonist and who's the antagonist.
Phone is also used in this opening which is a key prop because it us most common to be used for teenagers and we also see the conversation between her and her friend so we know where she was heading.
Very dull colours are also used throughout this opening. This could be because its the past? or because we normally see dark, dull colours being used in thrillers.
