We had 3 lessons to plan, film and construct our preliminary task. We were given 4 random props that we picked out of a bag: a clock, dictionary, cuddly lion and halloween knife. We also had to include certain editing/filming techniques such as the 180 degree rule, continuity and all of the group in the film.
Firstly we successfully used continuity editing while Holly was running up the stairs, we filmed from different angles several times. However when the lion was thrown the continuity was slightly effected by seeing Amelia's hand. From this in our thriller opening we will be careful of our surroundings and make sure we film scenes more than once.
We used the 180 degree rule while Holly and Amelia were talking.
We used effects such as slow motion. This was because it made it more dramatic and is also a common technique in thrillers. Therefore we decided to experiment with it.
We don't like the clock that we included as the shots weren't long enough and therefore it didn't make sense.
Overall we think for the short space of time we had we successfully created our film with all the aspects we needed. However we feel it doesn't make sense as the planning could of been more detailed. This means we will carefully make sure that our opening makes sense.
