Narrative Structure

All films follow a certain narrative structure. This contains the exposition (establishes the 'normal world, tone, setting and characters), Rising action (conflict is introduced and tension steadily rises), Climax (key turning point which usually contains a scene between protagonist and antagonist; This changes the story), Falling action (sorting out the conflict) and the Denouement (The resolution and the world is back to 'normal'.

For our thriller opening we will be focusing on the exposition and beginning of the rising action. This means we will establish the normal world but also introduce something which upsets the normality and causes conflict/tension.
